2025 New Year’s Eve
Saying hello to 2025 with fireworks, dancing and your favourite people. The iconic Surfers Paradise beach lit up the night sky at 8:00 PM and midnight. A spectacular start to the New Year!
There are lots of cities that have bigger fireworks than us. But can you say it is as much fun?
Surfers Paradise is fun most of the time. At new year it is party central.
There’s dancing in the streets, restaurants, beaches and clubs. Dancing with DJ's, the Hare Krishnas, random drummers or your favourite person. Pick your beat and swivel your hips.
Take your free beachfront-front-row seating to the fireworks over the waves. Picnic in style or bring your inflatable toys. Break open the glow sticks and sparklers. The esplanade and beach on a balmy evening with an uninterrupted view of fireworks at 8pm and midnight. Yes its a mighty fine time. All ages, all smiles.
The Beach and Esplanade
At 7pm and 11:30 pm waves of people are drawn to the beach. Cavill Avenue and Orchid Avenue align with the powder laden barges floating just offshore. So two main destinations. This sort of swell is something Surfers is made for. It doesn’t take long for people to find their spot as the grassy verges of the Esplanade with its wide boardwalk is a fine elevated level to view from and set up a picnic.
Of course most people are heading to the sand. A natural amphitheatre with oodles of space. In between the fireworks shows the beach and esplanade were sites for dancing and feasting.
Cavill and Orchid Avenue
The road closures handed the streets to the people. The Esplanade (between the Peppers Soul and Hanlan Street roundabouts) and Orchid Avenue were closed from 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM. The Hare Krishnas took over the street right beneath the Surfers Paradise sign and people loved it. Others took the opportunity to claim the streets as their own cat walk. Photos ensued. People were free to roam and play, Cavill filled, then emptied then filled. Drumming of very similar kind but different flavour filled the La Jordania Restaurant And Shisha Lounge. Patrons joined in with flashing LED tambourines and lots more dancing.
Yes the clubs went off. They may have been as busy as the kebab joints who took to using deli numbers to deal with the onslaught.
