Magic Millions Barrier Draw

The barrier draw determines the starting positions for horses competing in the $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic and the $2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, setting the stage for the marquee races at the Gold Coast Turf Club later in the week.

The draw unfolds on the golden sands of Surfers Paradise, where thoroughbred horses, jockeys, trainers and owners gather alongside beachgoers to witness this unique spectacle. Starting from 6am, this unique event showcases the perfect blend of thoroughbred racing excitement and the stunning coastal backdrop of Queensland’s most iconic beach.

All eyes will turn towards the ocean sands as champion jockeys, paired with magnificent thoroughbreds, gallop down the pristine Surfers Paradise beach in a breathtaking spectacle. This seaside gallop is a highlight of the morning, celebrating the glamour and athleticism of the sport in an unparalleled setting.

The excitement continues as the connections of each runner in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic field arrive in style to participate in the barrier draw. Each connection will randomly select the starting gate for their horse ahead of Raceday, set for Saturday, January 11.

Shortly after, at approximately 8:30am, the barrier draw for the $2 million Gold Coast Magic Millions Guineas will take place, finalizing the key details for the two headline races of the Carnival.
